Swanndri
BRIEF
Swanndri came into being on December 23rd, 1913, when William Broome trademarked what’s become New Zealand’s most iconic outerwear brand. Swanndri was designed to keep you dry like a swan’s plumage, it kept you comfortable no matter what the weather, from bitterly cold and wet winter mornings to hot, harsh summer afternoons. Swanndri’s success and growth has seen a requirement for a Racking solution that would be optimised for their new larger distribution facility. Located in Christchurch, a region that has a high seismic risk, the engineering quality along with the seismic rating of the racking would need to be of the highest standard to protect against any future earthquakes ensuring business continuity. The design needed to accommodate good selectivity and allow for significant future growth as the company grows throughout the America’s and beyond.
SOLUTION
TMX called for competitive tenders to bid for the design, manufacture, supply, and installation of a custom-built storage solution. APC submitted a tender proposal which met the requirements stipulated by TMX and Swanndri which optimised the height of the building and provided additional space for future growth opportunities. APC won the tender for our design and engineering capabilities, our ability to provide the client with what they wanted and using our experience to future proof the warehouse with space for additional shelving levels.
APC worked closely with TMX and Swanndri to deliver a world class custom-built storage system. We also provided Swanndri with a full council consent working with the landlord and the Christchurch City council through a complex variation process. Our project management capabilities and ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders meant that we identified the clients limitations as well as future opportunities and as a result tailored a solution to enhance its warehouse operations. We supplied Pallet Racking, Long Span Racking with Mesh Decks, Racking Load Signs, Safety Barriers, Workbenches, Racking Protection and End Frame Barriers. APC engineers use the highest engineering standards throughout our design and develop the racking to ensure the safety of staff and the stored pallets and products to meet and exceed all relevant NZ standards.
